Looking for help with...
Memory Impairment
Everyone experiences a memory slip or two as we pass through
middle age. More than that, though, is not a part of a healthy
aging process. Short-term memory loss can be due completely to
physical health issues. It can be caused by various medications.
It can also be an early warning sign of dementia. An initial
assessment will help point you and the family toward help.
Wondering if it's Alzheimer's? Briefly, the early
warning signs are:
- Memory loss
- Difficulty performing familiar tasks
- Problems with language
- Disorientation to time and place
- Poor or decreased judgment
- Problems with abstract thinking
- Misplacing things
- Changes in mood or behavior
- Changes in personality
- Loss of initiative
- Or, more simply: is Momma talking in circles, losing things, and
blaming people for things they couldn't have done? Is Dad
hiding behind his newspaper, getting quieter, stumbling over his
words, losing his keys, bringing home the car all dinged up?
Time for help! Now, before one of them gets hurt or hurts someone else.
